Concerned with the idea of the ‘anti romantic’ and the feeling that history seems more captivating than the present I explore the idea of time, particularly in relation to memory. I am interested in our emotional relationship with the landscape of memory, and our interpretations and awareness of this space.

Recently my work has a collisional quality, I take aspects of my real world and combine or present them with components from an imagined future or hypothetical space.  By creating work that bridges these spaces I retain a very personal aspect within my work, as well as comment on the universal notions of human existence. I am currently enjoying playing with the imagery developed through the life span of an object, presenting different stages of this ‘life’ alongside each other, as though cutting up the linearity of time and stitching it back together in a new order, questioning our perceptions of the world around us.

I try to maintain an experimental practice, using a wide variety of different materials to best activate the sculptures and find new meaning. I am in battle with language, I explore how visual language is translated from concept, into the materiality of the work and then out again. I constantly toy with ideas of representation, incorporating both abstract and literal forms within my practice
